Grant UCML

In 2022, Dorota Hrycak-Krzyżanowska received a research grant from the University Council of Modern Languages (UCML) for the project Developing Creative Writing Skills in Teaching Polish as a Heritage and Second Language at B1–B2 Level in Online Learning.

The project focused on developing writing skills, with particular attention to creative writing, in the teaching of Polish as a heritage and second language at B1–B2 level in online learning. The research explored approaches to teaching heritage Polish remotely and the use of active learning methods in hybrid educational environments.

The project resulted in the first part of a methodological guide for teachers of Polish as a heritage and second language. The guide presents methods for developing creative writing in online learning, sample lesson plans, a collection of writing exercises, and an educational game designed to support learners’ creative use of Polish.

The grant also supported the preparation of the research article Developing Creative Writing Skills in Teaching Polish as a Heritage Language in Online Learning.
