The Unit of Polish Language and Culture Education, Media Pedagogy and Hybrid Education at the Polish University Abroad in London carries out research, teaching and public-engagement activities promoting the Polish language and culture in an international context. It combines an academic perspective with practical experience of Polish supplementary schools, formal and non-formal education, and multilingual settings.
The Unit focuses on teaching Polish as a heritage, second and foreign language and on cultural education for children, young people and adults. It develops active-learning methods, project work, storytelling and digital storytelling, arts-based and multimodal education, and resources supporting teachers and learners in face-to-face, online and hybrid learning.
A key area of the Unit’s work is media pedagogy, digital competence, educational games, immersive environments, VR and AR, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in humanities education. New technologies are used to support engagement with language and culture, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and learner agency.
The Unit supports children, young people, teachers, parents, carers and specialists for whom the Polish language is an important part of education, family relationships, cultural participation and identity formation.
