Join us for the opening of an exhibition on sharenting: what happens to the photos of children we post online. Friday 9 October 2026, 8 pm, POSK Gallery. Free entry.
Today a child’s first photograph often goes online before the child is even born. First steps, the first day at school, birthdays and holidays follow. Each picture is shared out of love. Together, however, they create a child’s digital biography, written before the child could say “yes” or “no”.
The Polish University Abroad warmly invites you to “Who’s Watching? Childhood Online”, an exhibition presented as part of GUARDIAN Week. It shows what ordinary posts reveal about a child, who can see them, and how to share more safely. The exhibition does not judge parents; it invites a moment of reflection before pressing “Share”. It contains no photographs of children’s faces.
Visitors will find a mirror asking “Did you ask me first?”, a wall of fictional posts, a timeline of a child’s digital footprint, drawings and words from children taking part in our research, and a comparison of law and practice in the UK, Poland, Czechia and Kenya. A film, an anti-sharenting campaign and practical tips for parents, grandparents and teachers complete the exhibition.
The exhibition is part of GUARDIAN – “Growing online: how to protect our children in the digital world?” (Horizon Europe, MSCA Staff Exchanges), an international research project involving universities in Poland, Czechia, the United Kingdom and Kenya. It is curated by Dr Agnieszka Szajner, Principal Investigator of the GUARDIAN project at PUNO.
