VIII International Interdisciplinary Academic Conference
The multidimensional functioning of human beings
under the conditions of transformation toward the era of artificial intelligence (AI)
About the Conference
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 8th International Conference, devoted to an interdisciplinary reflection on human functioning in its cognitive, perceptual, and educational dimensions in the context of the ongoing transformation towards the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The conference constitutes the latest instalment in a series of academic meetings organized by the Polish University Abroad in London.
The point of departure for this year’s edition is Guy Debord’s thesis on the society of the spectacle, in which the direct relationship between human beings and the world is replaced by images, representations, and mediated forms of experience. Successive generations of media, understood as both tools and matrices of vision, produce a distance between the subject and reality. The world increasingly appears as an image, an interface, or a model, while contemporary technologies not only reproduce reality but also process, select, and simulate it.
Of particular significance today are the so-called “vision machines”, which offer vision without seeing – automated forms of perception that precede human observation and interpretation. In the age of AI, images generated by artificial intelligence systems are not merely reflections of reality; rather, they are often the result of statistical averaging of patterns encoded in databases. This process is accompanied by opaque data flows, which have become a crucial element of contemporary transmission and communication.
In this context, we would like to invite you to join us in a shared reflection on the transformations of perception, cognition, education, and communication in a world shaped by images, algorithms, and artificial intelligence technologies.
The conference is international in scope and remains open to diverse research perspectives. We welcome proposals for theoretical, empirical, methodological, and practice-based presentations. We also warmly encourage early-career researchers at the beginning of their academic journey to participate.
Conference Topics
The conference is interdisciplinary in nature, so we encourage submissions of presentations from a range of disciplines. The topics include:
- the society of the spectacle, media, and transformations of communication
- perception, cognitive processes, and machine vision in digital environments
- education and learning in the age of artificial intelligence
- language education and glottodidactics in digital contexts
- media psychology, as well as the psychology of cognitive processes and learning
- human–technology communication and human–AI interaction
- digital narratives, storytelling, and immersive environments (VR/AR)
- adane, transmisja i algorytmiczne modele rzeczywistości
- information and knowledge management in digital environments
- conditions and determinants of digital transformation in social, cultural, artistic, and historical contexts
- the ethics of artificial intelligence and the social consequences of technological development
- interdisciplinary methodologies for researching the human being, communication, and technology
The above list is open-ended – we encourage the search for new, original perspectives.
