Exhibitions

Exhibition “Who’s Watching? Childhood Online” (9–15 October 2026)

As part of GUARDIAN Week, we invite you to visit the exhibition “Who’s Watching? Childhood Online” („Kto patrzy? Dzieciństwo w sieci”) at the POSK Gallery. The exhibition encourages visitors to pause before clicking “Share” and to look at a photograph through the eyes of the child who appears in it. It does not judge parents; instead, it shows what ordinary posts may reveal and how information can be shared more safely. There is not a single image of a child’s face in the exhibition.

Visitors will see, among other things, a mirror displaying the question “Did you ask for my consent?”, a wall of fictional social media posts, a child’s digital footprint from ultrasound to adulthood, artworks and statements created by children, and a comparison of laws and social practices in the United Kingdom, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Kenya. The exhibition is bilingual and curated by Dr Agnieszka Szajner.

  • Opening reception: Friday, 9 October 2026, 8:00 p.m.
  • Exhibition dates:9–15 October 2026
  • Venue: Galeria POSK, 238–246 King Street, London W6 0RF
  • Admission: free

We warmly welcome parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, and young people, as well as groups from Polish Saturday schools.

Symposia

1st International GUARDIAN Symposium and Gala (21 August 2025)

On 21 August 2025, PUNO organised the 1st International Symposium “Sharenting and Child Safety Online” in London, both in person and online. The symposium defined sharenting as a phenomenon situated at the intersection of children’s rights, digital ethics, family life, and law. Discussions focused on such topics as children’s digital identity, GDPR, the psychological consequences of online exposure, and the commercialisation of family content.

The symposium concluded with the GUARDIAN Gala, which provided an opportunity to review the project’s first achievements and to thank institutional partners, schools, parents, and teachers.

2nd International GUARDIAN Symposium (11 August 2026)

On 11 August 2026, PUNO hosted the second edition of the International Symposium on Sharenting and Child Safety Online: Evidence, Practice, and Policy at POSK in London. While the first edition focused on defining the phenomenon, this year’s event moved “from definition to evidence”: from identifying the problem to developing concrete responses.

The symposium was opened by PUNO Rector Prof. Włodzimierz Mier-Jędrzejowicz, and participants were welcomed on behalf of the Organising Committee by Dr Agnieszka Szajner. Across four panels, 17 speakers and research teams from Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, and Kenya presented their work in person and online:

  1. Rights, Ethics and Philosophy – including GDPR and children’s digital footprints in Europe and Kenya, and the relevance of Janusz Korczak’s ideas to conscious sharenting.
  2. Psychology, Family and Digital Identity – including kid influencers, childbirth videos in Polish social media, artificial intelligence, and the psychology of sharenting.
  3. Digital Competences and School-Based Interventions – including “Conscious Sharenting Month”, a tool for assessing children’s understanding of privacy, and the role of teachers in Kenya.
  4. Family, Community and Intergenerational Relationships – including the role of grandparents, the ethics of research with children, and historical analogies in data protection.

The PUNO team delivered five presentations: two by Dr Agnieszka Szajner (one jointly with Dr Lidia Marek from the University of Szczecin), and presentations by Leszek Kulaszewicz, MA, Dr Dorota Hrycak-Krzyżanowska, and Wojciech Klas, MA. The day concluded with a piano recital by Tomasz Zyrmont and a formal dinner.

Educational Campaigns

Campaign in Polish Saturday Schools

Dr Agnieszka Szajner and Leszek Kulaszewicz, MA, developed an educational campaign on sharenting for Polish Saturday schools in the United Kingdom. The campaign promotes dialogue with parents and children rather than moralising. It includes a series of posters entitled “Quadriptych – A Child’s Right to Privacy”, featuring messages written in the language of children and young people, such as “You have the right to say NO to photos.” The posters do not feature images of children, only their silhouettes.

Conferences

The PUNO team presented the project at academic conferences:

  • 25 April 2025 – 14th Conference in Zielona Góra: presentation of the campaign in Polish Saturday schools;
  • December 2025 – International TERA Conference in Bangkok: presentation by Dr Agnieszka Szajner entitled “Sharenting, Digital Safety and Intercultural Education” on sharenting in migrant families and intercultural education;
  • 13–18 September 2026 – 39th Maria Dudzikowa Summer School for Young Pedagogues organised by the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdynia: the project was represented by Leszek Kulaszewicz, MA.
